A picture of a Boll Weevil
The offspring of this adult boll weevil can wreak destruction on cotton crops by eating the boll or pod which contains the cotton fiber. In 1863 an infestation decimated cotton production in Mexico. Within 30 years the weevil had crossed the United States border and spread to the country's entire crop. ßíäåêñ.Ìåòðèêà
